In Swahili the word "Wazungu" has many different meanings and conotations depending on how it is used within a sentence, but the overall meaning is foreigners. This is the story of two women who spend alot of their time exploring foreign soil. They are often foreigners to those they meet and those they meet are at times foreign to them. This is the story of their wanderings.
Jillian Swinford and Kerri Elliott are two good friends who met co-teaching high school special needs children. They love to travel and spend much of their free time in foreign countries. They have spent so much time away that sometimes the return trips to America seem foreign. Much of their joint travel has been centered around their work with their nonprofit EdPowerment in Tanzania (www.edpowerment.org). Follow them on their journey through their experiences abroad or at home to see how these ladies cope with life and collide with cultures.
Kerri has lived in Great Britain and Tanzania and has traveled most of Europe and some of Asia, South America, Africa, and the Islands in the Pacific. Jillian has lived in Australia and Tanzania and has travelled to much of Europe, some of Africa, and the islands in the South Pacific. Both have been to a total of over 55 countries and plan to keep travelling.

"Like the volcano, Africa can stun you in an instant. It can throw floods and droughts and disease at you, sometimes all at the same time. In the next moment it will tease you with its magnificent beauty, so even if you don’t forget, you can find a way to forgive. Ultimately it keeps you coming back for more."
